Product Management Coaching · Story 01 · 2026

From micromanaged to trusted with the next team.

A senior product manager rebuilds his confidence and his executive voice.

The starting point

Daniel had eight years in product and a strong record. A difficult previous organization had shaken his confidence, and a stretch of close supervision in his new role triggered the old loop: read every signal as a threat, over-explain, get lost in detail. He knew he wanted to be a principal-level PM. He did not know how to sound like one again.

What we worked on

  • Executive communication. Conclusion first, then the math. A weekly update format his executives could read in a minute.
  • A high-stakes pitch. Rehearsed framing and objections for a strategic pivot he had to sell to leadership.
  • The pattern underneath. Instead of guessing what his manager wanted, ask what success looks like for her and build it together.

The turning point

He ran a live strategy pitch twice. The first was in the weeds. The second was a leader's voice: anchored on the goal, clear without every fact in hand. He heard the difference himself.

Where it landed

  • The pivot was adopted and the launch it enabled shipped.
  • Trust with his manager rebuilt, on a shared way of working.
  • Six months in, he was asked to build a new team.
"Sounding like a leader is anchoring on the goal and articulating it forcefully when it's called for, even if you don't have all the facts figured out."

Career Transition Coaching · Story 02 · 2026

Tenured professor to industry, in one semester.

An unexpected offer, a clean exit, and a fair deal.

The starting point

Rachel had tenure, a heavy load, and very little life outside it. Side work with a small firm had her wondering whether a different career could give her balance, and travel with her if the family moved to another country. Her values were clear. Her happiness was not.

What we worked on

  • The offer she did not expect. Days after our first session, the firm offered her a full-time role. We prepared the negotiation: lead with the value she had already delivered, name compensation as important without anchoring on a number, set a decision deadline that fit the academic calendar.
  • Leaving well and landing well. A respectful handover, then a stakeholder map and a first-ninety-days plan before her start date.

The turning point

She walked into the meeting with her future boss planning to explain what she needed. She walked out having asked what he needed, and the offer followed on her timeline.

Where it landed

  • Accepted the role and started before the fall term, without leaving her department mid-semester.
  • Took on a significant project in her first weeks, and set up a feedback channel with her boss instead of waiting to be told.
  • Evenings and weekends back.
Leadership & Confidence Coaching · Story 03 · 2025

From indecision to director.

A finance leader stops optimizing every option and steps into the bigger role.

The starting point

Lena was torn between two paths: returning to commercial finance, which felt familiar, or an FP&A director role she wanted but felt was out of reach. She could argue every side of every choice and commit to none. Underneath sat an imposter voice that flared whenever she tried to lead, and a habit of going blank in high-stakes interviews.

What we worked on

  • Where confidence already lived. She was fully herself when mentoring others and when she was the one asking the questions. We carried that identity into the interview room.
  • Closing the gap. She had never held a director title. We built the case from transferable scope, not from hope.
  • The first weeks in the role. A bigger team, two functions, and politics already surfacing, reframed as stretch rather than threat.

The turning point

Her indecision was not a lack of judgment. It was over-optimization. The judgment had been there the whole time.

Where it landed

  • Within two months, the director role, with expanded scope across two functions.
  • A reorganization led inside her first eight weeks, and a hard personnel decision handled with composure.
  • A values filter she still uses to decide what deserves her energy.
"Ming helped me clarify my values, uncover what truly drives me, and create a practical strategy to pursue what I really wanted. She guided me to silence my self-doubt and overcome imposter syndrome. Her coaching combined deep emotional insight with sharp strategic thinking, and within just two months I landed my dream FP&A director role. I now feel confident, focused, and proud of the leader I've become."

Reinvention Coaching · Story 04 · 2024 to 2025

The second act she kept postponing.

An executive comes in to fix procrastination and leaves with a twenty-year vision.

The starting point

Grace was successful, capable, and stalling. Important-but-not-urgent tasks sat for months. She sensed a midlife transition underway, with no framework for it and no permission to explore what she actually wanted. Her opening request was simple: someone to hold her accountable.

What we worked on

  • Accountability that fit her wiring. Small commitments, proof between sessions, rewards she cared about.
  • Values and vision. Metaphor work, the Wheel of Life, and a life statement written in her own language.
  • A real second career. A field she loved moved from hobby to plan: a learning community, a skill rating to grow, protected study hours each week.

The turning point

She named her future self "Freedom Grace," a bird on open sky. From then on the question was not how to stop procrastinating. It was what that person would do next.

Where it landed

  • A written twenty-year vision that still guides her choices.
  • A structured path into her second career, plus new social threads she had put off for years.
  • Procrastination, the reason she came, quietly stopped being the story. She was choosing.
"Transformative. If I could have had you as my parent, I would have achieved much more in my life."

Finding a public voice in her fifties.

A certified health coach turns decades of private expertise into a brand. Clarity first, then the machinery.

The starting point

Diane had built a business and spent years studying health and resilience for her own life. Friends called her whenever something serious happened. She had never shared any of it publicly. She wanted to reach women at midlife with research-backed, honest content. She did not know how, and she was wary of the noise.

What we worked on

  • The brand before the platform. A clear audience and a promise she could keep: depth over frequency.
  • A test website in an hour. Built from her own answers, then refined. Proof before perfection.
  • A system that removes the friction. Recorded conversations turned into drafts, so her hour a week goes to the thinking, not the formatting.

The turning point

"Taking the pressure away from me allows me to be in more of a flow state." The launch stopped being a mountain and became a series of small, finished things.

Where it landed

  • A named brand and a live site.
  • Fifty content topics outlined, in formats chosen for her voice rather than the algorithm.
  • A weekly hour that is enough, because the pipeline does the rest.
"In taking small steps, I will accomplish what I want. Taking the pressure away from me allows me to be in more of a flow state."

After the layoff, a practice of her own.

A sustainability leader loses the role she built, then chooses to build something instead of waiting.

The starting point

Vivian came in for a promotion path. She had built a new function inside a large company and wanted the visibility to match. We worked on influence: a relationship map, framing impact rather than wishes, a business plan her CFO signed onto. Then, mid-engagement, she was laid off. The brief changed overnight.

What we worked on

  • Grief before strategy. Shock, anger, and finally the good cry she had been holding back.
  • Diagnosing the stall. Months of interviews going nowhere. Not a skills problem, a positioning problem. We built a focused three-month sprint.
  • The pivot she was circling. A year later she was back, this time about a consulting practice. My honest read: too much thinking, not enough regulated action.

The turning point

"You have to go out there, do things, and constantly get feedback. It's going to be wrong anyway." She stopped drafting the plan and started testing it.

Where it landed

  • A landing page live within days and customer discovery conversations booked before the offer went public.
  • A clearer narrative and a standard for the work worth her energy.
  • Closure on a workplace that underpaid her strengths.
"You're intuitive and get to the point of the issues very fast."

Worth that does not depend on the invoice.

A new father and founder builds a business and a quieter inner voice in the same year.

The starting point

A year after a layoff and weeks into fatherhood, Noah arrived exhausted and ashamed of it. His productivity had collapsed. Underneath was a lifelong feeling of being small and a habit of tying his worth to income. Rationally he knew he had everything he needed. He could not feel it.

What we worked on

  • The inner child and the future self. Somatic work suited him. We met the boy who felt left behind and the grounded future Noah, and practiced bringing the second one into the room.
  • Honesty as a practice. He told his spouse what he had hidden. The response was support. Then he stopped asking permission to take up space.
  • A business shaped like him. An extrovert who works best in motion, so deep-work blocks with movement as the reward, and delegation instead of forced discipline.

The turning point

He described the inner critic as someone banging on a door outside a calm, low-lit room. Then he spoke to himself from inside the room, live, and felt his shoulders drop. His own voice had quieted it.

Where it landed

  • Let go of a habit he had hidden for years.
  • First paid project, then a partnership, then his first bundled retainer.
  • A growing family, and family itself as a metric of success.
"I don't need someone or some task to be the reason why I have a good day."
